Are you interested in vehicles, practical work and learning a skilled trade? We are looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Vehicle Converter to join our team and develop the hands-on skills needed to convert and customise vehicles to meet customer requirements.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
About the Role:
- You will support the conversion and customisation of vehicles, learning practical techniques including basic wiring, fitting and finishing.
- You will work on both exterior and interior trim, including vehicle flooring, seats, tracking, doors, bumpers, carpets and windows.
- You will learn how to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
- You will use a range of consumable materials, including polyester filler, sealants, panel wipe, glues, aerosol paints and primers.
- You will maintain high standards of workmanship while following all relevant safety requirements.
- You will work as part of a team to help complete projects on time and to a high standard.
- You will take part in training sessions and assessments to support your ongoing development.
What We’re Looking For:
- A keen interest in vehicle design, structure, electrics, mechanics and customisation.
- A basic understanding of tools and machinery used in vehicle conversion.
- Good attention to detail and a practical approach to problem-solving.
- The ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Good communication skills.
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn and the ability to adapt to new challenges.
- Commitment to completing an 18-month apprenticeship.

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Carry out location, product, material and dimensional checks prior to installation.
- Inspect the fabric of the building for suitability of weight of installation.
- Interpret information from drawings, specifications and functional designs.
- Comply with health and safety regulations, standards, and guidance.
- Use and store hand and power tools.
- Select and use personal protective equipment.
- Remove and dispose of pre-existing products.
- Assemble and install fitted furniture components in sequence.
- Install boxing, boarding and frameworks, adjusting to ensure best possible fit.
- Install and dry-fit ancillary products, for example, hinges, handles, appliances, media equipment or bathroom suite fixtures.
- Identify and report faults, snags and issues.
- Carry out rectification work following a root cause analysis, within limits of competence.
- Maintain a safe working area and return to a safe condition.
- Carry out a customer handover, including providing product guidance.
- Communicate with others verbally, for example internal and external customers, colleagues and managers.
- Works collaboratively with clients or stakeholders to solve problems
- Comply with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
- Applies team working principles.
- Complete documentation.

Training schedule
- You will work towards a Level 2 Fitted Interiors Installer qualification.
- Hopwood Hall College will be the apprenticeship training provider, and you will be allocated a work-based tutor from the college who will support you through your apprenticeship.
- Training will be based at both Hopwood Hall College and Coleman Milne.
Requirements
Desirable qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 4/C or equivalent)
- Maths (grade 4/C or equivalent)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
