Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Picking and packing orders
  • Organising stock
  • Helping make sure everything runs smoothly
  • No two days are the same, and you’ll gain valuable experience working across different areas of the warehouse
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of internal and external deliveries and vehicles
  • Accurately check stock in and out, ensuring records are up to date
  • Support delivery operations where required (applicants aged 21+ with a valid driving licence may have the opportunity to carry out deliveries)
  • Carry out manual handling tasks within the warehouse in a safe and efficient manner
  • Maintain general housekeeping standards across the warehouse, facilities, and surrounding grounds
  • Clean and refuel pool vehicles as required
  • Escort visitors and contractors to internal tenants, ensuring site procedures are followed
  • Assist with the safe segregation of pedestrians and vehicle movements on site
  • Maintain and update clothing/PPE records
  • Undertake FLT (Forklift Truck) training, which will be provided for the successful candidate

Training schedule

  • Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Level 2
  • The apprentice will train on the job daily with the employer
  • Once per month the apprentice will attend worshop with the skills coach from the training provider

More training information

  • The apprentice will have one day per month where they work with the skills coach to teach them certain ares of the apprenticeship
  • This will be virtually online
  • There will be quarterly visual reviews from the skill coach to make sure the apprentice is following the procedures of health and safety involved in this apprenticeship

Other requirements

  • The client has requested a driver for this role, as you will be required to do deliveries and collections, therefore you will need a full clean driving license with a clean licence
  • Must have good attention to detail as you have to correctly pick orders and load the vans with the correct stock
  • Must be IT proficient as you will be expected to do stock checks using a computer, so you need to know how to use a computer
  • Be physically fit as you will be doing some manual handling
  • Be hard working, willing to learn and have a good attitude to work
  • Reliability and punctuality is a must
  • Be committed to completing the apprenticeship with a view of a career with the employer once the apprenticeship has been completed
