An exciting opportunity to join Mounjoy School as an apprentice Teaching Assistant. You'll be working towards a qualification as a Teaching Assistant at this all-through SEND school, supporting pupils to access their education.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Apprentice Teaching Assistants work in the classroom alongside colleagues to support out pupils in accessing their education
  • This involves supporting their teaching and learning, as well as meeting the physical needs of the pupils, such as at lunch and break times

  • Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders.
  • Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
  • Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
  • Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
  • Apply methods of formative assessment.
  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

You MUST be prepared to commit to your work and training for the duration of the apprenticeship. You will be required to attend an interview and assessment at Coastland College to ensure you meet the requirements for the apprenticeship. If a suitable candidate is found prior to the advertised closing date, it may close earlier so please apply early to avoid disappointment.
