More training information

Some of our day-to-day tasks at Bromley Builds include:

Groundworks: general labouring for foundations, shuttering, setting levels and measuring, installing rebar and mesh, mixing, pouring, levelling and floating concrete. Options for learning on the excavator/mini diggers are available in-house.

Building: assist with minor brickwork and blockwork and support bricklayer subcontractors during wall builds such as foundations backfill. All internal construction carried out in-house including full roof installations of tile or EPDM, rooflights/velux fitting, stud walling, battening, insulation and plasterboard installation. Floor makeup works— concrete slab, block and beam, damp proofing, insulation —are completed in-house; larger or specialist screed needs are subcontracted. Landscaping and patio installations are completed in-house.

Demolition and steelwork: we undertake all this in-house. Removal of load bearing walls, and safe working with props and acro’s, installation of all steelworks and the closing up of exposed spaces and dry pack above the steels to support the walls above. Where cracking has occurred in the brickwork, we will stitch the areas back together in-house.

Plumbing: we typically handle first and second fix plumbing and underground drainage, including connections to mains sewers or soakaways; on tight schedules we bring in a plumbing subcontractor to support first-fix work. We also produce bathrooms refurbs too so often installing baths, showers, sinks, vanity units, radiators and toilets.

Finishing: plastering is completed by our trusted subcontractor. We undertake painting and decorating, tiling on straightforward projects, simple flooring installations, plus skirting, architrave and door hanging. Kitchen cabinetry installations and general cabinetry/understairs storage solutions. All work regarding fascia, soffits, trims, guttering and downpipes is undertaken in-house.

Windows and doors – all upvc/aluminium glazing and bifold tasks are undertaken by us depending on timeframe requirements. External wooden doors and fire doors are currently outsourced to a subcontractor; however, it would be good to bring this in-house.
