Summary

We are seeking an apprentice teaching assistant to help support a positive, inclusive learning environment. Working with teachers, they will support children’s academic and personal development, provide pastoral care, and assist with classroom tasks to help every pupil thrive.

£17,877 a year

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Your duties will include:

  • Support learning — Help pupils with their learning under the guidance of the Headteacher, class teacher, and SENCo, including supporting lessons linked to the national curriculum.
  • Promote well-being — Encourage pupils’ emotional, social, and moral development by offering support, reassurance, and positive role‑modelling.
  • Provide targeted support — Work with pupils one‑to‑one or in small groups to help them take part fully in learning activities and make good progress.
  • Support behaviour needs — Assist pupils who may be experiencing emotional or behavioural challenges, helping them build confidence and appropriate social skills.
  • Carry out admin tasks — Help with everyday classroom tasks such as photocopying, laminating, organising resources, and keeping materials tidy.
  • Prepare learning materials — Set up, maintain, and organise classroom resources, so pupils have what they need for lessons and activities.

  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)
