Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Proofreading adverts on the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and assisting with the management of adverts placed on other external jobs boards as required.
- Managing the candidate progression throughout the recruitment process via the applicant tracking system.
- Providing support to arrange telephone, video and face-to-face interviews and setting up events via the ATS.
- Corresponding with candidates, speculative application queries and external agencies.
- Checking and actioning queries and requests via the Recruitment Email inbox.
- Providing comprehensive administration support to the team.
- Maintain the job description and advert templates to ensure brand consistency and awareness.
- Ensuring new starter paperwork is accurately and efficiently issued to all new recruits.
- Accountable for the preparation of all new HR employee files, ensuring the accurate export of all new starter data and documents into the HR system.
- Responsible for the recruitment administration and onboarding process, including all pre-employment checks (as per Keeping Children Safe in Education), personal detail collation and other details that may be required for the onboarding compliance process from point of offer to first day.
- To uphold data accuracy and reliability of all data stored on the applicant tracking system to enable the prompt and accurate generation of management information.
- Support with the coordination and facilitation of assessment days as required.
- Ensure a strong focus on exemplar customer service and the building of effective relationships with recruiting managers, applicants and internal stakeholders.
- Assist in the Investigation of and help resolve queries and complaints received from recruiting managers, applicants and other stakeholders for the recruitment process, escalating to the Resourcing Partner where required.
- Work collaboratively with all people teams to support a seamless
candidate journey. - Manage your own workload to ensure all activity meets agreed key performance indicator (KPI) targets.
- Guide and support recruiting managers to ensure timely actions are taken and escalate where appropriate.

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Service Delivery: Delivers excellent customer service on a range of HR queries and requirements, providing solutions, advice and support primarily to managers. Builds managers’ expertise in HR matters, improving their ability to handle repeated situations themselves where appropriate. Uses agreed systems and processes to deliver service to customers. Takes the initiative to meet agreed individual and team KPIs in line with company policy, values, standards. Plans and organises their work, often without direct supervision, to meet commitments and KPIs.
- Problem Solving: Uses sound questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes before developing HR solutions. Takes ownership through to resolution, escalating complex situations as appropriate.
- Communication & Interpersonal: Deals effectively with customers/colleagues, using sound interpersonal skills and communicating well through a range of media eg phone, face to face, email, internet. Adapts their style to their audience. Builds trust and sound relationships with customers. Handles conflict and sensitive HR situations professionally and confidentially.
- Teamwork: Consistently supports colleagues /collaborates within the team and HR to achieve results. Builds/maintains strong working relationships with others in the team and across HR where necessary.
- Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities to improve HR performance and service; acts on them within the authority of their role. Supports implementation of HR changes/projects with the business.
- Managing HR Information: Maintains required HR records as part of services delivered. Prepares reports and management information from HR data, with interpretation as required.
- Personal Development: Keeps up to date with business changes and HR legal/policy/process changes relevant to their role. Seeks feedback and acts on it to improve their performance and overall capability.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 4/C)
- Maths (grade 4/C)
