In this role, you will assist Project Quantity Surveyors in preparation of interim and final accounts, manage day to day commercial and contract activities., sub-contract procurement ensuring maximum value for money, assist Project Quantity Surveyors in sub-contract valuations and final accounts, learn the working practices of NEC 3/4 and JCT Conditions of Contract, gathering information for preparation of compensation events/variations (depending on form of contract). You will undertake site measures when required and work closely with the site management teams and be responsible for assisting the Project Quantity Surveyors in cost planning and commercial management throughout the life-cycle of a project from inception to post-completion.

On completion of your apprenticeship you will gain a Level 4 in Quantity Surveying Techician.

  • Construction Technology: Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects
  • Contracts: Be able to apply different types of contracts to different situations.
  • Procurement: Assist in the selection of and negotiation with specialist contractors for a construction project.
  • Cost control: Assist in the measurement and costing of construction works during a project.
  • Financial reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, cash flow and cost forecasts for a construction project.
  • Administration: Assist in the collection, collation and storage of relevant data and its analysis.

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • Maths (grade 9 - 4)
  • English (grade 9 - 4)
