Summary

Castle Medical Group is offering a L2 Customer Service Apprenticeship, providing hands-on experience in a healthcare setting. Wage

Rotating weekly between AM and PM shifts, aligned with practice operations (morning shift 7.30am - 3.30pm afternoon shifts 10.30am - 6.30pm). Monday - Friday. Breaks: Includes a 30 minute unpaid lunch break and a daily 15 minute paid rest break.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Supporting patients face to face on the front reception desk and over the telephone
  • Welcoming patients and visitors, in person in a friendly and helpful manner
  • Signposting patients to the right clinician or service
  • Provide administrative support
  • Entering information into patients records by computer
  • Ensuring correspondence, reports and results are filed promptly, to maintain a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures and policies
  • Participate fully as a team member and attend all mandatory staff training
  • Taking responsibility for maintaining own personal development
  • Maintaining a high level of confidence and confidentiality when dealing with patients’ information and data in line with the practices confidentiality policies

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Use a range of questioning skills, including listening and responding in a way that builds rapport, determines customer needs and expectations and achieves positive engagement and delivery.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
  • Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate patience and calmness.
  • Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
  • Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
  • Maintain informative communication during service recovery.

Training schedule

Apprentices will be allocated a Trainer Assessor and training will be
planned and delivered in conjunction with the employer to meet
the individual needs of the apprentice.

The apprentice will spend 20% of their working hours in off the job
activities and training.

On the job and off the job training will be delivered in the
workplace.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4 - 9)
  • Maths (grade 4 - 9)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
