Summary

CGM Global Supplies Ltd was formed to give our customers the chance to purchase factory original equipment and spares at the most competitive prices. The team are looking to recruit for a Warehouse Apprentice.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Main roles and responsibilities:

  • Assist with receiving incoming deliveries and recording basic delivery information on company systems or spreadsheets.
  • Carry out basic checks on goods received and report any issues or damaged items to a supervisor.
  • Help prepare goods for shipment and assist with filing or scanning delivery paperwork where required.
  • Assist with repackaging and consolidating goods for shipment when required.
  • Photograph and label items according to company procedures.
  • Support the warehouse team with picking parcels and attaching shipping paperwork for dispatch. 
  • Assist with monitoring packaging supplies and informing supervisors when stock is running low.
  • Follow company health and safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Learn safe warehouse working practices under supervision. Forklift duties only if appropriately trained.
  • Work as part of the warehouse team while developing warehouse and logistics skills.

  • Communicate with others verbally, for example internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers.
  • Communicate in writing with others, for example internal and external customers, colleagues and managers.
  • Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
  • Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
  • Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
  • Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
  • Follow equity, diversity and inclusion rules.
  • Carry out and record learning and development activities.

Training schedule

The learner will be studying the Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard qualification.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

Maths and English (grade 4-9)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
