Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Assisting with day-to-day finance administration using Xero accounting software
  • Supporting the reconciliation of bank accounts and financial records
  • Maintaining organised and up-to-date financial documentation
  • Supporting the wider accounts and administration team with general office duties
  • Learning how commercial finance operations work within a busy brokerage environment
  • Ensuring all work is completed accurately and in line with
  • company procedures and compliance requirements

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Training schedule

The apprentice will gain the Accounts or Finance Assistant Level 2 Apprenticeship Qualification and AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting Qualification.

Applicants should be keen to develop a career in accountancy and be able to attend weekly face to face classroom teaching or Online-live and self-study sessions for the AAT level 2 Apprenticeship at FAR Accountancy Training in Askham Bryan, York.

 

More training information

Apprentices will receive training and mentoring in the workplace and knowledge, skills and behaviour development training by AAT Award winning training provider FAR Training, through a combination of online-live / classroom-based lessons and self-study.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

English and Maths (grade Grade 5 and above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

It is expected that the individual who fills the vacancy will work from our office based in Garforth.

Please ensure that you can travel to our premises for a 9.00am start.

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and off-the-job training hours that's part of their apprenticeship (one day per week).
