Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Everyone Active are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic candidate to work towards their Community Activator Coach Level 2 apprenticeship over the course of 14 months.The Community Activator Coach leads and coaches' fun, inclusive and engaging activities which help inactive people to change their behaviour to adopt a more active lifestyle. The activities are particularly focussed on children from low-income families, people with disabilities or long-term medical conditions, and older people.

Your roles and responsibilities will include:

1. Lead/coach weekly sports activities within the health and wellbeing programme, held at Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre or in community venues such as schools and village halls, aimed at inactive people from priority groups.

2. Lead/coach sports activities aimed at inactive children from priority groups, particularly children eligible for free school meals, taking place in the school holidays.

3. Provide fun and enjoyable activities to encourage repeat visits and ensure that activities achieve the quality standards described in the Everyone Quality Management system (EQMS).

4. Setting up and putting away sports equipment for these sessions and ensuring all activities are delivered in a safe manner.

5. Assist with the organisation and administration of the weekly and holiday sports activities above, including keeping registers and providing data such as attendance numbers for monthly and quarterly reports.

6. Complete apprentice course work to meet required deadlines and attend other training courses as required.

What your apprenticeship includes:

  • A mixture of face to face and skype/phone catch ups every 4 - 6 weeks to discuss feedback and progress
  • A mixture of on and off the job training, including workshops and webinars
  • Reviews every 12 weeks with your Line Manager and apprenticeship Trainer
  • The chance to get Functional Skills in English and maths (if you don't already have GCSE)

Please note that a full driving licence and access to a car will be essential for this role.

  • Support the mental health and wellbeing of self and participants.
  • Comply with health and safety legislation, regulations, risk assessment procedures, guidelines and procedures.
  • Participate in personal and professional development.
  • Maintain professional boundaries within scope of own role.
  • Monitor and review the effectiveness of activity sessions.
  • Assist with the resolution of challenges and problems.

Training schedule

Community Activator Coach Level 2 Functional Skills Maths and English if required.
