Summary

The Teaching Assistant Apprentice will work across all year groups. To work under the instruction of teaching staff, usually in the classroom with the teacher Supporting children’s learning. Provide general support to the teacher in the care of pupils and management of the classroom. Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside.

£12,480 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

What you'll do at work

Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll gain a deep understanding of teaching support through:

  • Assisting with the delivery and implementation of learning activities
  • Evaluating lesson plans and suggesting improvements
  • Leading small group and one-on-one activities independently
  • Collaborating with teachers to deliver learning objectives
  • Adapting to meet individual learner needs in a classroom environment

  • Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety.
  • Support the well-being and mental health of learners.
  • Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures.
  • Apply methods of formative assessment.
  • Use up to date technology safely, to support learning.
  • Encourage safe use of technology by learners.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning).
  • Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners.
  • Provide feedback to learners.

Training schedule

Working towards a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship, 1 day per week at Tamworth Campus (Term time only).

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

Maths & English (grade 4-9 (A*- C))

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
