Summary
As an apprentice, you will learn all aspects of roofing including slating, tiling, felt and battening, roof repairs, lead work and solar panel installation. You will gain hands-on experience using tools including disc cutters and nail guns while working alongside experienced roofers on new builds and commercial projects.

Pay is dependent on age and experience, in line with apprenticeship wage guidelines. Any pay increases will be discussed individually as the apprenticeship progresses, based on performance and skill development.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Learn all aspects of slating and tiling roofing
- Assist with felt and batten installation
- Help install solar panel roofing systems
- Use hand and power tools including nail guns and disc cutters
- Work safely at height following health and safety procedures
- Load and unload roofing materials and equipment
- Work alongside experienced roofers on new builds and commercial projects
- Keep work areas clean, organised and safe
- Attend college and complete apprenticeship coursework and training

Training schedule
- Training will take place both at work and at Cornwall College (St Austell). Apprentices will attend college for 4 consecutive days each month to complete the Level 2 Roofer Apprenticeship Standard
- The remainder of training will take place on site, working alongside experienced roofers and gaining hands-on experience on domestic and commercial projects

Must be reliable, punctual and willing to learn.
Able to work at height and in all weather conditions.
Must be physically fit and comfortable with manual work.
Full UK driving licence is helpful but not essential.
A positive attitude and strong work ethic are essential.
Must be able to work well as part of a team and follow instructions.
We are looking for an apprentice to work with our experienced roofer based in Bodmin, there will be requirements for you to travel all over Cornwall to work. A meeting point will be arranged and you will travel to work with the experienced roofer.

After this apprenticeship
- On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will progress to a fully qualified roofer, capable of working independently on your own roofs
- There are also opportunities to develop further within the company, including progression into trainee site supervisor or contracts manager roles, depending on performance and experience
