As an HR Business Partner Apprentice, you’ll support our HR team in delivering people initiatives that drive employee engagement, operational excellence and business performance. You’ll develop core HR and business partnering skills while contributing to real, meaningful work across the organisation.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Supporting HR Business Partners with day-to-day people queries from managers and colleagues
- Assisting with employee relations activities, including investigations, meetings, documentation and note taking
- Helping deliver people initiatives such as engagement activities, talent reviews and organisational change projects
- Supporting onboarding, probation reviews, absence management and performance cycle activities
- Maintaining accurate HR records and producing people data and reports
- Coordinating training activities and supporting learning and development initiatives
- Contributing to HR projects focused on improving processes, employee experience and organisational effectiveness
- Actively completing all apprenticeship learning, assignments and assessments

- Build and manage multiple and diverse stakeholder's relationships.
- Advise on application of policy, regulation, and law for HR issues.
- Use data and metrics to mitigate areas of risk and highlight opportunities.
- Negotiate with and influence stakeholders to support achievement of business and organisation objectives.
- Present insight and conclusions on workforce issues or people process failures.
- Enable stakeholders to deliver people solutions. e.g., through negotiation, providing guidance.
- Lead and improve people capability within the business.
- Manage and deliver people related business and change projects.
- Handle and process people data according to legislative requirements.
- Embed organisational people policy to promote a diverse and inclusive culture with stakeholders.
- Analyse financial implications of people solutions ensuring value for money.
- Support the delivery of people strategies using technology and innovation in accordance with regulations and policies.
- Make decisions on people policy and issues raised, escalating concerns outside own area of responsibility.
- Use prioritisation tools e.g., priority matrix to manage workload, and deliver against business objectives.
- Challenge matters which conflict with ethical values or legislation.
- Contribute to the development of people policies and procedures or people initiatives.
- Interpret people and management data, from both internal and external sources to identify trends.
- Educate and support stakeholders to deal with wellbeing issues.

Other requirements
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and maths (grades A*-C/4-9)
- Degree educated (business-related discipline advantageous)
- Previous experience in an administrative, customer service or fast-paced environment is desirable but not essential
- Full 5-year background check and criminal record check will be required in order to comply with CAA regulations

An HR Business Partner apprenticeship, combined with successful completion of the Level 5 CIPD, provides a strong pathway into a substantive HR Business Partner role. The apprenticeship builds practical experience across employee relations, workforce planning and stakeholder management, while the Level 5 CIPD develops the technical HR knowledge and strategic understanding required to advise and influence leaders. Together, they equip individuals with the confidence, credibility and capability to operate independently as an HR Business Partner, supporting business performance through people‑focused solutions.
