Summary

Hill Engineering would like to find candidates who wish to learn from our immense knowledge in the precision engineering industry. The majority of the parts we manufacture are our own range of highly prestigious products that we manufacture at our factory in Orpington.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Successful candidates will be trained in the following:

  • Understanding of technical engineering drawings used for manufacturing
  • Following job cards, procedures and instructions from the team leader
  • Understanding the uses of various cutting tools
  • Setting of various Mill/Turn CNC machines
  • Setting of tool offsets and understanding wear offsets on CNC Machines
  • Submitting of first-off parts to inspection
  • Use of inspection equipment including Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges etc.
  • Measuring of component parts as they are produced

Applicants should have:

  • An excellent attitude in their work ethics
  • Have good attention to detail
  • Be able to work on your own initiative as well as being part of a team
  • Keeping a clean and safe working area and understanding all aspects of Health and Safety within the workshop
  • Applicants must also be punctual, reliable and have a mature and professional outlook
