Summary

Cinch is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic HR Apprentice to join our team. The successful candidate will support the HR department in delivering a high-quality service across the employee lifecycle. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for HR, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to professional development.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Administrative Support: Assist with maintaining employee records, updating HR databases, and filing confidential documents
  • Recruitment Coordination: Help post job adverts, schedule interviews, and communicate with candidates
  • Onboarding: Support the induction process for new employees, ensuring all paperwork is completed and processed
  • Employee Queries: Respond to basic HR queries and direct employees to the appropriate resources
  • Payroll Assistance: Help gather payroll information and support payroll processing tasks
  • Training & Development: Assist with organising training sessions and maintaining training records
  • HR Projects: Participate in HR-related projects and initiatives as directed by the HR team
  • Compliance: Help ensure HR policies and procedures are followed, supporting audits and compliance checks

This entry-level role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of Human Resources while working towards a recognised HR qualification. You will receive comprehensive training, mentorship, and support as you develop your skills and knowledge in a dynamic business environment.

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Service Delivery: Delivers excellent customer service on a range of HR queries and requirements, providing solutions, advice and support primarily to managers. Builds managers’ expertise in HR matters, improving their ability to handle repeated situations themselves where appropriate. Uses agreed systems and processes to deliver service to customers. Takes the initiative to meet agreed individual and team KPIs in line with company policy, values, standards. Plans and organises their work, often without direct supervision, to meet commitments and KPIs.
  • Problem Solving: Uses sound questioning and active listening skills to understand requirements and establish root causes before developing HR solutions. Takes ownership through to resolution, escalating complex situations as appropriate.
  • Communication & Interpersonal: Deals effectively with customers/colleagues, using sound interpersonal skills and communicating well through a range of media eg phone, face to face, email, internet. Adapts their style to their audience. Builds trust and sound relationships with customers. Handles conflict and sensitive HR situations professionally and confidentially.
  • Teamwork: Consistently supports colleagues /collaborates within the team and HR to achieve results. Builds/maintains strong working relationships with others in the team and across HR where necessary.
  • Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities to improve HR performance and service; acts on them within the authority of their role. Supports implementation of HR changes/projects with the business.
  • Managing HR Information: Maintains required HR records as part of services delivered. Prepares reports and management information from HR data, with interpretation as required.
  • Personal Development: Keeps up to date with business changes and HR legal/policy/process changes relevant to their role. Seeks feedback and acts on it to improve their performance and overall capability.

Training schedule

  • The apprentice will be working towards the HR Support Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
  • Monthly classroom attendance at Colchester Institute (Colchester Campus)

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

maths and English (grade 9-4/A*-C)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • Genuine interest in pursuing a career in HR
  • Willingness to work towards a recognised HR qualification (e.g., CIPD Level 3)
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Good written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience in an office or customer service environment
  • Understanding of basic HR principles or UK employment law (not essential)
  • Ability to work well in a team

The role may require occasional travel to Cinch Connectivity sites as needed.

Global Manufacturer of connectivity solutions.  Part of the Bel organisation. Our customer base covers Transport, Communication, Military and industrial. We have 2 site in the UK with a combined workforce of 210 and the HR team consist of 3 members of staff.
