Summary

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic SEN Apprentice Teaching Assistant for to join our team. The successful apprentice will be expected to apply themselves to the apprenticeship with commitment and diligence. The apprentice will also be required to commit to the school's values and ethos.

Wage

£15,392 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Supervise and support the teaching activities of individuals or groups of children to ensure their safety and promote their physical and emotional development.
  • Use appropriate skills to carry out activities that meet the physical and emotional needs of individual children and groups, including those with special educational, physical, or emotional needs.
  • Monitor individual pupils’ progress, achievements, and development needs, reporting to the responsible teacher as appropriate.
  • Support pre-determined educational activities and work programmes to encourage pupils’ intellectual and social development.
  • Supervise children in the hall and on the playground during lunchtimes.
  • Assist in organising and overseeing games and activities, particularly indoors when weather prevents outdoor play.
  • Assist the teacher with planning learning activities, including preparing or adapting work for individuals or groups of pupils as directed.
  • Work in liaison with the teacher to support pupils in achieving their learning goals.
  • Build constructive relationships with pupils and provide feedback on their progress and achievements as directed.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment and teaching resources for lessons and activities, including managing classroom stock.
  • Supervise and manage pupil behaviour in line with school procedures, providing regular and detailed feedback where appropriate.
  • Promote pupil independence in learning, social, and mobility skills, reinforcing self-esteem through praise, encouragement, and appropriately challenging expectations.
  • Ensure pupils use equipment and materials safely at all times.

Training schedule

Apprenticeship Level: Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship.

Delivery: All learning will be delivered online alongeside the placement at the school. 

Expected Duration: 16 months.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

Maths and English (grade 4)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
