Work

What’s in it for you?

What will you be doing?

You’ll help support customers and internal teams by learning how to use key business systems and online tools. Day‑to‑day, you’ll assist with customer orders, quotations, stock checks, and updates, while responding to customer enquiries by phone and online. You’ll also work with different teams across the business such as Sales, Logistics, Supply Chain, Workshop, building confidence, communication skills, and a strong understanding of how things work behind the scenes.

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Use a range of questioning skills, including listening and responding in a way that builds rapport, determines customer needs and expectations and achieves positive engagement and delivery.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication skills, along with summarising language during face-to-face communications; and/or
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use appropriate communication skills, along with reinforcement techniques (to confirm understanding) during non-facing customer interactions.
  • Depending on your job role and work environment: Use an appropriate ‘tone of voice’ in all communications, including written and digital, that reflect the organisation’s brand.
  • Provide clear explanations and offer options in order to help customers make choices that are mutually beneficial to both the customer and your organisation.
  • Be able to organise yourself, prioritise your own workload/activity and work to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrate patience and calmness.
  • Show you understand the customer’s point of view.
  • Use appropriate sign-posting or resolution to meet your customers needs and manage expectations.
  • Maintain informative communication during service recovery.

Training schedule

You’ll gain real, hands‑on experience in a busy customer service environment while working towards a Customer Service Practitioner Level 2 qualification. From day one, you’ll be fully supported by friendly colleagues who want to see you succeed, alongside your training provider.  Your formal studies will begin after a 4-6 week induction, giving you time to settle in, learn the role, and get to know your team.

More training information

TRS Training will provide monthly online sessions. Your apprenticeship will be completed by units that you need to submit throughout your employment and should take around 13 months to complete.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Mathematics (grade 4)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
