Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Working on-site assisting with the preparation for flooring installation
- Prepare surfaces (sanding, cleaning, measuring) ready for work
- Use tools and materials alongside experienced tradespeople
- Support different projects – from homes to large developments
- Follow health & safety practices on site
- Work as part of a team with other trades and site managers
- Interact with customers and learn professional communication
- Keep work areas clean and organised
- Learn new skills daily through hands-on tasks

Training schedule
- You will attend college training two days per month at Greenlight Safety & Training, where you’ll learn the core skills needed for flooring
- This includes understanding tools, materials and construction methods, as well as developing strong health and safety awareness
- You’ll also build your English and maths skills, gain industry knowledge to support your work on-site, and work towards a recognised qualification with support from experienced tutors

- After completing this Level 2 Foundation Apprenticeship, you can progress onto a Level 2 Floorlayer Apprenticeship, where you’ll build more advanced skills in areas such as carpet, vinyl, wood, and safety flooring
- This can lead to a career as a qualified floorlayer working on a variety of residential and commercial projects, with opportunities to progress into specialist roles, supervision, or self-employment as you gain experience
