Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Support Quantity Surveyors with the day‑to‑day cost management of construction projects
- Learn how to measure works and help prepare cost estimates and valuations
- Assist with ordering materials and working with subcontractors and suppliers
- Help to keep track of project costs, budgets and payments
- Use systems and spreadsheets to record and update financial information
- Attend site visits and meetings to learn how projects are delivered on-site
- Study towards a Quantity Surveying degree alongside your role through a Degree Apprenticeship

What you'll learn
Course contents
- Health and Safety: Apply health and safety issues to all activities.
- Sustainability: Demonstrate application of the principles of sustainability.
- Construction Technology: Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects
- Contracts: Be able to apply different types of contracts to different situations.
- Procurement: Assist in the selection of and negotiation with specialist contractors for a construction project.
- Cost control: Assist in the measurement and costing of construction works during a project.
- Financial reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, cash flow and cost forecasts for a construction project.
- Administration: Assist in the collection, collation and storage of relevant data and its analysis.
Training schedule
When at work, your time will be spent gaining a broad experience, both on-site in Hackney and at our Head Office in Woodford Green.
Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English Language (grade B/6 or above)
- Maths (grade B/6 or above)
- minimum of 4 other subjects (grade B/6 or above)
Other in:
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

After this apprenticeship
- After achieving a Level 4 apprenticeship, you will be eligible to apply for our Level 6 Construction Quantity Surveyor degree apprenticeship, when you should progress to Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
- On completion of the Level 6 degree-apprenticeship, you would be in a strong position to progress to Quantity Surveyor.
- Beyond this point, there will be ample opportunities to swiftly progress further within the business.
