Summary

We’re seeking a motivated Mechanical & Electrical Engineer Apprentice to join our team. You’ll gain hands‑on experience while working toward a recognised qualification, training across both disciplines and supporting the maintenance, repair, and development of complex flexographic printing machinery.

Wage

£15,600 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of flexographic printing presses and associated equipment
  • Support fault-finding and diagnostics on mechanical and electrical systems
  • Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Participate in planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
  • Work alongside experienced engineers on installation and upgrade projects
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department

Training schedule

The Engineering Apprenticeship will typically take 36 months to complete. You will attend college for one day per week at the Boston campus.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4/C or above)
  • Maths (grade 4/C or above)
  • Science (grade 4/C or above)

Other requirements

  • A strong interest in mechanical and electrical engineering
    GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English, and Science (Grade 4/C or above preferred)

  • Basic IT literacy
  • Previous hands-on or workshop experience 
  • A-Levels, BTEC, or equivalent in Engineering or related subject
