Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Producing engineering designs and detailed CAD drawings for components and structures, particularly relating to gates and outdoor installations
- Interpreting technical specifications, client requirements, and site information to develop accurate design solutions
- Creating 2D CAD drawings to support manufacturing and installation processes
- Preparing detailed fabrication drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications
- Liaising with engineers, project managers, and production teams to ensure designs are practical and meet project requirements
- Reviewing and revising drawings based on feedback, site changes, or design updates
- Ensuring all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements
- Assisting with site surveys or measurements where required to inform design work
