Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Producing engineering designs and detailed CAD drawings for components and structures, particularly relating to gates and outdoor installations
  • Interpreting technical specifications, client requirements, and site information to develop accurate design solutions
  • Creating 2D CAD drawings to support manufacturing and installation processes
  • Preparing detailed fabrication drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications
  • Liaising with engineers, project managers, and production teams to ensure designs are practical and meet project requirements
  • Reviewing and revising drawings based on feedback, site changes, or design updates
  • Ensuring all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements
  • Assisting with site surveys or measurements where required to inform design work

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:
