Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

As an Apprentice Electrical Assembler, you’ll:

  • Work alongside experienced engineers to build bespoke electrical distribution units
  • Learn how to assemble components using hand tools and wiring accessories
  • Install circuit protection devices such as MCBs and RCBOs
  • Carry out basic wiring following schematics and technical drawings
  • Use cable ties, crimps, lugs and terminals to complete builds
  • Apply labels, serial numbers and safety markings to finished products
  • Test completed units to ensure quality and safety standards are met
  • Gradually take on more responsibility as your skills develop

You’ll be working on custom-built solutions – including multi-socket outlets, switched units and specialist distribution panels – meaning every day brings something different.

Training schedule

You’ll study towards a Level 2 or 3 Lean Manufacturing apprenticeship, learning valuable skills that you can use throughout your career, including:

  • Understanding lean manufacturing principles and efficiency
  • Improving production processes and reducing waste
  • Quality control and continuous improvement techniques
  • Health and safety in a manufacturing environment

You’ll spend part of your time completing training (fully funded by the employer), and the rest applying your learning in the workplace.
