Summary
This role is the opportunity for the right person to join the friendly team at Nikal Steeks as a trainee Machine Operative, developing practical skills in a supportive production environment. You will learn machine operation and setup while carrying out routine machine care and working safely to high-quality standards.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Through a combination of in-house training and day release to college, the apprentice will:
- Learn how to set up and operate machines and tooling within our machine shop.
- Develop the skills and knowledge required to manufacture company products to a high standard.
- Learn to work as part of a supportive team while gradually developing the confidence to work independently and use their own initiative as their skills progress.
- Trained to carry out daily machine care tasks, including cleaning down machines, removing swarf and keeping their workstation clean and tidy
- Learn how to maintain basic running conditions of machines, such as refilling oil and coolant where required, whilst always following the company's health and safety procedures

Training schedule
The apprentice will be required to attend Advance 1 Campus, Dudley College, DY1 4AD, 1 day per week in term time only.
- Upon successful completion you will receive a Level 2 Engineering Operative - Mechanical Manufacture qualification.
- You will be assigned an assessor who will visit you in the workplace every 6-8 weeks to support you on your apprenticeship.
- You may be required to attend Functional Skills as part of your apprenticeship to upskill in maths and/or English, which will be included within your day release to college.

You will receive full in house training from the employer.

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade D/3/Level 1 Functional Skills)
- Maths (grade D/3/Level 1 Functional Skills)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
