Summary
Foundation apprenticeships are introductory courses that help young people get started in an industry. You do not need to have any specific qualifications or experience to apply.
Anyone between 16 and 21 can start a foundation apprenticeship.
If you're between 22 and 24, you can start if you:
- have an EHC plan
- are in care or have been in care
- are in prison or have been in prison
Working with our existing engineer as an apprentice and learn key engineering skills that will help us keep the factory running at its peak manufacturing capabilities. Full on the job training will be provided to the right candidate as well as spending one day a week at college gaining a formal engineering qualification

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Key tasks:
· Operating manual lathe, milling machines and surface grinder to manufacture tooling and custom parts for in-house machinery
· Performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to keep machinery running throughout the factory
· Creating detailed engineering drawings and hardware protection drawings to support manufacturing and ensure product quality
· Programming of several CNC routing machines
· Carry out routine health and safety inspections across the factory
· Work on continued product development
· Work on improving existing manufacturing processes
· Perform weekly batch testing on raw materials to maintain quality standards
· An in-house forklift license will be gained to allow for material handling and moving machinery
· Conducting regular calibration of measuring devices used on the shop floor to guarantee accuracy and compliance
· Work as part of a team
· Be prepared to work in a varied role depending on priority tasks at the time
· Attention to detail
· Work within the guidelines of health and safety policy
Carry out any other reasonable functions as per required by management

Training schedule
College day release will begin in September 2026. This means that the apprentice will work full time up until college starts allowing for them to gain key experience and skills working in an engineering environment before the college course starts. The apprentice must have a grade C/4 in English and Maths GCSE to ensure they meet the entry requirements for the course.
The course itself is a Level 3 Engineering Technician, 3-year apprenticeship. The first year will be 1 ½ days at college. The second and third years will be 1 day at college.

With the capability to design and manufacture for virtually any situation we provide a single tried and trusted source of everything involved in intumescent technology. This includes complete door systems incorporating matched components that have been fire tested together ensuring complete peace of mind.
Our products include, door edge fire seals, intumescent fire strips, combined fire, smoke and acoustic seals, intumescent glazing seals for 30 and 60 minute protection, acoustic seals, threshold seals and ironmongery fire seals; all manufactured using our own high grade intumescent materials.
KuhnOdice manufacture a full range of fire rated air transfer grilles ‘ATG’s’ for use in doors, walls, ceilings and inside bespoke ventilation systems.
