Summary

  • International Dressage rider and judge Judy Harvey is looking for a new apprentice groom to join her team, you need to already have good basic equine experience and be confident handling big competition horses . This position would ideally suit a young rider with their own horse looking to start their career in  dressage.

Wage

£16,640 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Hours are 40 per week over 5 days to include weekends and bank holidays and are split shifts , so starting 7.30am till 1.00pm and then returning 3.30pm till finish.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

All general yard duties to include:

  • Mucking out / keeping yard tidy
  • Turning in and out / putting rugs on and off
  • Grooming , tacking up and show prep
  • Helping with the youngstock
  • Opportunity to Groom at shows
  • Plenty of training available on your own horse

Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

  • All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours
  • Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)
