We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Apprentice Content Creator & Graphic Designer to join our team and create exceptional designs for a wide range of print products.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Design and prepare print-ready artwork for various products, including business cards, brochures, posters, signage, packaging, and promotional materials
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure designs are print-ready, meet technical requirements, and maintain high quality
  • Create mock-ups and prototypes for client approval, providing multiple design options for review
  • Collaborate with clients or internal teams to understand project objectives, brand guidelines, and specific requirements
  • Ensure all designs are consistent with brand identity, using colour profiles, typography, and imagery that aligns with each client's vision
  • Maintain a strong understanding of print production processes, including colour separations, resolution, bleed, margins, and file formats
  • Review and proof all print files to ensure they meet technical specifications before going to print
  • Stay updated on the latest print design trends, materials, and printing techniques to bring fresh and innovative ideas to the table
  • Assist with the preparation and creation of marketing materials for the company, including promotional graphics for social media, email campaigns, and website updates
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines
  • Create social media promotional videos
  • Manage and create content for different channels the business has, including social media, emails, and the website

What you'll learn

  • Interpret the aims of the brief.
  • Research ideas and concepts to meet the brief.
  • Evaluate brand requirements and brand guidelines.
  • Prepare a mood board or other visual aid for the content to be created.
  • Present ideas, pitches and proposals for creative content to be further developed.
  • Storyboard and outline script their ideas for content to be developed.
  • Interpret data, consider its integrity and use it to inform content.
  • Develop accessible written content for different platforms and devices.
  • Apply best practice and inclusive language when creating content.
  • Write and edit copy or scripts for use on different channels and platforms.
  • Create or capture visuals and audio using standard packages and equipment.
  • Source, obtain and prepare media assets for use; using industry standard packages to adapt and edit content.
  • Use industry standard tools and content management systems to organise, structure and label content effectively, methodically and securely enabling efficient search and retrieval.
  • Identify and recommend the platform/s or channel/s to use for the media campaign.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, colleagues and suppliers, establishing and using professional contacts.
  • Engage and respond with audiences through social media, adapting content to respond to evolving circumstances.
  • Monitor user experience to ensure content is focused on maximising engagement.
  • Analyse the differences between audiences using audience segmentation techniques and data.
  • Use lessons learned to evaluate the success of the content and identify areas for improvement for future campaigns.
  • Use continuing professional development planning to support own current and future training and development needs.
  • Operate effectively within the production workflow to meet production timelines.

Other requirements

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other design tools (e.g., CorelDRAW, QuarkXPress)
  • Strong understanding of print production processes and file preparation 
  • Experience designing for both digital and print mediums
  • Excellent understanding of typography, layout design, and visual hierarchy
  • Strong portfolio showcasing your print design work and creativity
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple design projects simultaneously
  • Good communication and collaboration skills for working with internal teams and clients
