Summary

You will be enrolled on our Surveying Technician Apprentice apprenticeship programme, and you can expect to be working closely with our experienced engineers and management to gain the skills you will need to help us improve the UK rail systems.

You will be contracted to 40 hours per week. Your roster will include up to 39 out of 52 separate weekends. Applicants need to be 18+ at the start of the apprenticeship as rostered hours will include working at night and during Bank Holidays. Working hours TBC.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Throughout your apprenticeship journey you will work to gain relevant skills for your role and deliver against the apprenticeship schemes Route to Competence. You will receive immersive and hands-on experience within your discipline to support this development, and you will need to be motivated, curious and enthusiastic to learn. 
 
Your role will be to make a strong contribution to your team and support your colleagues across key projects to gain and develop your experience. Through tailored experience and training you will develop an in-depth understanding and knowledge of your subject area, working on live projects on site, and getting on and off the job training and competence development.  

You will have the opportunity to work efficiently and in unison within a fully muti disciplined team, operating closely with your colleagues to assist with the planning and coordination of site activities, continuously gaining experience and responsibility in all P-Way engineering delivery stages, from site survey to project completion.

Training schedule

Upon completion of your apprenticeship, you will receive the following qualifications:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Surveying as a prerequisite to end point assessment
  • Associate members of RICS

Each apprenticeship will have a combination of learning through block release dates at a college or training provider, as well as bespoke ‘On the Job’ training - developing you through the key competencies of your specialism, which you will need to deliver on site for one of our many contracts. This will meet both the knowledge and experience requirements of your apprenticeship programme.

GCSE in:

  • Maths (grade 4 and above)
