Summary
Team Chapman Equestrian are a busy livery & competition yard looking for an apprentice. We have a lot of owner's horses with us so high standards are essential. We are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic equestrian who wants to start/continue their career with horses whilst gaining a qualification.

Work

What you'll do at work

Team Chapman Equestrian are looking for a level 2 or level 3 apprentice in conjunction with East Durham College. We are a busy livery and competition yard. We have a lot of owner's horses with us so high standards are essential. We are located near Richmond/Catterick. Varied work working on a competition yard.
General Yard Duties:
- Muck out
- Turn out / bring in
- Feeding
- Filling haynets
- Rug changing
- Holding for the Vet, Farrier, Physio and Dentist
- Grooming
- Tacking up
- Competition Prep
- Field Maintenance
- Lungeing
- Riding - for the right person
Essential qualities;
- Transport to and from the Yard (not on public transport route)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Trustworthy and reliable
- Calm in a crisis
- Quick to learn
- Someone who shows initiative
- Committed to horse care and welfare
Trial period essential to help find the right member for our team.
Experience around horses is required

Training schedule
The successful candidate will complete Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship Standard. This will be delivered in the workplace, with a tutor visiting once a month. The only times you would be required to attend college would be if you have any Maths and English functional skills to complete.
Maths and English classes would be weekly until the exams are passed. If you hold either GCSE grade 4 or above, or a level 2 in maths and English, you will not be required to do these again.

After this apprenticeship
Upon completion of the apprenticeship there is the possibility of permanent employment and going on to complete further qualifications for the right person.
