What you'll do at work

Commercial Risk Solutions: Trends in economics, demographics and geopolitics – compounded by the rapid pace of technological change – are creating unprecedented volatility for organisations. We assist clients with their insurance buying decisions, aiming to optimize the balance of risk transfer and retention financing through valuation and analysis.  

Your role as a Commercial Risk Apprentice:

Join one of our Commercial Risk teams as a permanent colleague from day one and discover how we help our clients identify their risks and ensure they have the best possible cover to mitigate them. Prepare to make an immediate impact as you demonstrate your passion for customer service. You'll quickly learn about our business and the broking process, develop your professional skills and build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.

What your day could look like:

Supporting the delivery of client-facing transactional service activities
Assisting in the day-to-day running of client risk and insurance programmes
Contributing proactively to client satisfaction, retention and profitability
Carrying out administrative tasks contributing to the broking process
Inputting data accurately to maintain management information

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge and experience to deliver positive outcomes to all stakeholders utilising appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Ability to apply legal and insurance principles, knowledge of the market structure and its processes, procedures and documentation to a range of complex situations.
  • Can proactively identify, generate and develop relationships and networks that support the role, including but not limited to internal/external/market led/professional and peer relationships. Can leverage relationships to improve the reliability of customer service based on customer feedback. Engages with and supports colleagues so that they are empowered to resolve customers issues within organisational guidelines.
  • Takes ownership for delivering in their area of responsibility. Finds ways to progress and meet commitments when issues arise, being creative where appropriate. Escalates issues and decisions where necessary. Identifies and proposes business process improvements .
  • Applies legal and regulatory requirements to work compliantly, whilst promoting a culture of treating customers fairly. Assesses whether organisational processes and procedures and those that follow them are compliant with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Provides technical advice and support to others on complex insurance matters.

Training schedule

You will work towards your:

  • Insurance Professional Level 4 Apprenticeship
  • Certificate in Insurance (Cert CII). (if applicable)
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths (if required)
  • Training will be via Davies, virtually
  • Off the job training will be calculated individually

More training information

  • We recognise the value for our Early Careers colleagues of being in the office environment from the beginning of their programme
  • As a new apprentice, you will spend the first 6 months based in the office (5 days a week) to support your learning, development, and progression
  • This will enable you access to support from managers, collaborate with colleagues as well as grow your network across Aon
  • After completing this initial training period, you will then have the opportunity to work more flexibly, spending at least 4 days face to face in the Aon office or with clients

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

5 subjects including Maths and English (grade 4 / C or above)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

112 UCAS points from your top 3 A Levels (or equivalent) or 280 UCAS points for exams sat prior to 2017 (excluding General Studies) i.e. BBC
