Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
As part of the role, you will work to develop your skills and take on more responsibilities over time, with the aim of moving in to a fully qualified field engineer role.
Day-to-day will include:
- Carrying out the installation, repair, servicing and validation of decontamination equipment
- Electronic fault finding
- Travel to sites regionally to service and repair equipment
- Assist service engineers during site visits
- Complete assisigned College work and portfolio for qualification
- Work with a friendly and supportive team

Day-release for the apprenticeship will take place at Stoke-on-Trent College's Burslem Campus, ST6 1JJ
More training information
- Candidates who do not currently hold a past Engineering qualification may need to complete a Level 2 apprenticeship at the first instance before progressing to Level 3
- Training will take place in Stoke-on-Trent College's modern and well equipped engineering facilities
- Further training will be available for industry specific knowledge for NHS work will also be available
Requirements
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade Grade C/4 or above)
- Maths (grade Grade C/4 or above)

Other requirements
- A current Level 2 qualification in Engineering (or equivelant) is desirable
- Basic knowledge of plumbing is desirable
- An interest in electronic fault finding
- A clean driving licence for atleast 6 months, or working towards obtaining a licence soon is essential
