The Community Activator Coach will be responsible for supporting qualified Swimming Instructors in the pool, as well as reception/customer service duties and maintaining a clean working environment.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Assist in the delivery of structured swimming lessons
- Ensure a safe learning environment in and around the pool
- Maintain discipline and encourage confidence in the water
- Assist swimmers with skill development and water safety
- Welcome swimmers and parents on arrival
- Mark swimmers in for their lessons
- Take payment for lessons where required
- Answer general enquiries about lessons and schedules
- Assist with bookings and basic administration
- Assist with setting up and packing away for sessions
- Help maintain a clean and organised poolside, reception area and changing rooms
- Make drinks/refreshments for customers where required
- Support the smooth running of the swim school

- Use techniques to build rapport with participants.
- Carry out the tasks required before, during and after a community activity.
- Support participants to overcome personal or societal barriers.
- Manage individuals' behaviours within a group setting.
- Work collaboratively with services and other community organisations to run events that make the best use resources.
- Record and store data and information, in line with legislation and organisational policies and procedures.
- Use suitable digital technology to deliver targeted messages to participant groups.
- Adapt communication methods to meet the needs of participants and groups.
- Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns within own scope of role and in line with organisational protocols.
- Support equity, diversity and inclusion in line with legislation and organisational policies.
- Support the mental health and wellbeing of self and participants.
- Comply with health and safety legislation, regulations, risk assessment procedures, guidelines and procedures.

Training schedule
- Level 2 Community Activator Coach Standard
- Level 2 in Teaching Swimming
- Highfield Functional Skills Level 2 in maths and English (if necessary)
A bespoke training programme that meets the standard criteria and is suitable for the employer and the requirements for the role.

Desirable qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade Grade 4 (C) or above)
- Maths (grade Grade 4 (C) or above)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
