Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Railway Engineering design role
  • CAD – 3D modelling
  • CAD - Technical drawing  
  • Digital – Automation, programming 
  • Office-based role using computers for design work, calculations, planning and presenting
  • Opportunities to visit site, be involved in design reviews etc.
  • Working alongside an experienced Technician
  • Potential progression to L6 Apprenticeship

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade A-C / 9-4)
  • Maths (grade A-C / 9-4)
