Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Picking Operations
- Pick orders accurately to customer requirements and follow all picking procedures, including quality checks, Lot numbers and expiry dates
- Report any product issues immediately to the Warehouse Manager/Supervisor
- Ensure all orders are quality checked; report and rectify any errors before dispatch
- Pack goods into correct cartons, seal securely, wrap and label pallets, and move stock to Goods Out
- Maintain communication with Line Managers regarding issues affecting productivity or quality
- Use FLTs only if trained and licensed
FLT Duties
- Keep the truck clean, complete daily log books, and report faults
- Operate safely, reporting accidents or near misses
- Put stock away accurately and record locations for traceability
- Hand all paperwork to the correct individuals to maintain system accuracy
Goods In
- Check deliveries against delivery notes and report deficiencies to Purchasing
- Put stock away safely, recording storage locations
- Scan paperwork to maintain traceability
- Only open roller shutters when receiving or loading stock
- Inform the Pharma team immediately of relevant deliveries
- Use SAP effectively
Goods In – Container
- Open containers only once the seal and container number match documentation; report discrepancies for investigation
- Carry out visual checks before unloading and notify management of issues
- Unload accurately, palletise goods, and put stock away after checks are complete
GDP
- Adhere to GDP requirements at all times
- Obtain temperature tickets where applicable and notify the pharma team immediately of pharmaceutical deliveries
- Ensure CMR documentation is received when required
- Protect goods from adverse weather and report discrepancies immediately
- Ensure third‑party drivers are supervised while in the warehouse
Health & Safety
- Maintain compliance with all H&S requirements including wearing PPE
- Promote H&S awareness and report accidents, near misses and pest sightings
- Maintain good hygiene and a clean work area to minimise contamination and accidents
Stock Count
- Perform perpetual stock counts as requested
- Support company stocktakes and attend planning meetings if required
Other Duties
- Keep warehouse and pick-face areas presentable
- Follow company holiday and sickness policies
- Complete ad‑hoc tasks as instructed
