Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Install and repair roof coverings
- Assist with stripping and replacing existing roofs
- Measure and cut materials to fit specific roof designs
- Install underlay, battens, insulation, and ventilation systems
- Work safely at height using appropriate equipment and PPE
- Identify and report roof defects or damage
- Load, unload, and organise tools and materials on site
- Follow technical drawings and supervisor instructions
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times
- Support lead roofers with more complex installations and repairs

Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements
The positions are within teams whose staff are based in Newcastle-under-Lyme and West Stoke-on-Trent. Transport can be provided with pick-up and drop-off available from your home address, provided you are located within these areas. Alternatively, applicants who drive must be able to travel to these locations for a 7:00 am start.
You will be required to pass the relevant Health and Safety test to obtain a CSCS card.
