Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Processing income statements, balance sheets and other management account reports, under the supervision of a Senior Accountant.
  • Help prepare financial statements, analysis work, and client summaries under the supervision of a Senior Accountant.
  • Understanding Royalties including income and expenses.
  • Assist with Corporation tax computation and basic Personal Tax Returns.
  • Communicate with clients and business teams to gather financial information.
  • Support senior accountants with ad hoc analysis and special projects.
  • Assist with Maxing Tax Digital for Income Tax Compliance.

Course contents

  • Communicate in a clear, articulate and appropriate manner.  Adapt communications to suit different  situations, individuals or teams.
  • Identify ethical dilemmas, understand the implications and behave appropriately. Understand their legal responsibilities, both within the letter and the spirit of the law, as well as be aware of the procedures for reporting concerns over potentially unethical activities.
  • Take ownership of allocated projects and effectively manage their own time and the time of others.  Demonstrate good project management skills to deliver high quality work within the appropriate timeline. Act as a role model and motivate others to deliver results.
  • Evaluate information quickly and draw accurate conclusions. Assess a problem from multiple angles  to ensure all relevant issues are considered. Gather the appropriate facts and evidence in order to make decisions effectively.

Essential qualifications

A Level in:

English and Maths (grade B or above)

Other requirements

  • Ability to interpret and analyse financial data.
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting software such as as Xero.
  • Strong ability to cope in a fast paced environment, taking responsibility for own workload and working closely with the Accountants to deliver high quality work within deadlines and relevant timescales.
  • Responds positively to constructive criticism, pursues ways to develop own skills further and strives for additional responsibility Assumes ownership and responsibility for tasks/workload.
  • Passionate about the music/entertainment sectors.
