Summary

An Apprentice Stores Operative keeps our busy warehouse running smoothly, working with goods in, picking & packing, stock movements between sites and maintaining high safety and housekeeping standards. Working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment you will build practical skills, use warehouse systems and support production.

Wage

£16,640 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

You will be supported to become proficient in:

  • Using a forklift and reach truck (training will be provided)
  • Picking & packing goods for export and in-house manufacture
  • Handling high value parts and large components
  • Ensuring health and safety requirements are followed
  • Shrink-wrapping
  • Unloading deliveries
  • General housekeeping

You will also work closely with other areas of the company including machine shop and fabrication.

  • Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
  • Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
  • Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
  • Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
  • Follow equity, diversity and inclusion rules.
  • Carry out and record learning and development activities.

Training schedule

  • Blended learning with self-study online and remote sessions.  
  • Diarised visits from dedicated Trainer/Assessor
  • Attendance to Loughborough College for an Induction Day (Induction to take place on the last Wednesday of the month that you are enrolled, 9:30am-3pm. Confirmation of date provided upon enrolment)
  • Attendance to Loughborough College for Functional Skills (if required)
  • On-the-job training
  • Off-the-job training

Requirements

Desirable qualifications

GCSE in:

Maths and English (grade C / 4 or equivalent)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
