Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Duties and responsibilities:

You will be based in our Grantham warehouse under the supervision of the Logistics Manager, working alongside an expanding team of Stand Builders & Joiners.

To be successful in this role you must be practically minded, driven and have a genuine interest in the smooth running of the department.

During our busier periods, the ability to work under pressure and to very tight deadlines is critical. You must be a team player, encouraging your teammates and helping the team reach the common goal.

In ‘quieter’ periods, we expect you to seek out tasks that drive value over activity.

You will have a ‘whatever it takes’ attitude, able to comfortably engage with other members of the business and use your initiative to solve problems that inevitably arise.

Example tasks include:

  • Loading and unloading from our fleet of vehicles
  • Picking items
  • Cleaning and packing away jobs following their return
  • The general cleanliness and upkeep of the warehouse as a whole

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Minimum 1-year experience in a manual based role is desirable but not essential
  • Forklift truck operating licence is desirable but not essential
  • You are reliable: it is important to carry out what you promised and/or was asked to complete
  • You are a good communicator: you are active within the group, listen carefully and respectfully speak up to either show your support or to challenge the thinking
  • You are flexible: you won’t fight change but instead see it as an opportunity for growth and help others do the same
  • Capable: the job is an active role so compliment the manual handling tasks
