£16,640 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Level 2 Equine Groom= 12-15 months. Level 3 Senior Equine Groom= 15-18 months. Rota of 5 days p/week including every other weekend, 7.00am - 4.00pm.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

The position is for a confident Level 2 OR 3 apprentice looking to progress their career in the stud industry and develop their knowledge and understanding of running a stud of race horses.

The role involves:

  • Leading and handling foals, youngstock, broodmares and stallions
  • Supporting vet and farrier visits

General yard duties, including but not limited to:

  • Turning out, bringing in
  • Grooming
  • Tacking up
  • Stable and field maintenance

Please note, this is a breeding pathway, not a riding pathway.

  • All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours
  • Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4)
  • Maths (grade 4)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
