Summary

An apprentice Warehouse Operative is responsible for supporting warehouse and production operations by handling goods, maintaining stock accuracy, preparing materials for manufacturing, and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of products within the warehouse.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

  • Receive, check, and store incoming goods and raw materials
  • Pick and pack items required for production or customer orders
  • Move materials between warehouse and manufacturing areas
  • Load and unload delivery vehicles safely
  • Maintain accurate stock records and update inventory systems
  • Conduct regular stock checks and assist with stock control
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet trucks or forklifts (if trained/licensed)
  • Operate CNC machines/Laser cutting machines - Full training given
  • Ensure products are stored correctly to prevent damage or loss
  • Keep warehouse and work areas clean, organised, and safe
  • Follow company health and safety procedures at all times

  • Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
  • Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
  • Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
  • Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
  • support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
  • Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
  • Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
  • Follow equity, diversity and inclusion rules.
  • Carry out and record learning and development activities.

Training schedule

  • This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our Derby Road Campus
  • This attendance is required during term time only

You will work with expert assessors and tutors to develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession.

You will experience a blended learning model.

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 3)
  • Maths (grade 3)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
