Summary

As a Warehouse Operative Apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience across all core areas of warehouse operations. You’ll work as part of a busy warehouse team responsible for the safe receipt, movement, storage, and dispatch of ventilation products and components.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Receiving & Checking Deliveries:

  • Carefully unload deliveries from supplier vehicles and ensure all goods match the accompanying delivery manifest
  • Check quantities, product codes, and condition of items, reporting any discrepancies, damages, or missing products to the Warehouse Supervisor promptly
  • Accurately book all items into the warehouse management system to ensure stock levels are up to date

Prioritising Incoming Orders for Dispatch:

  • Organise and prioritise received items daily so they can be processed efficiently for consignment building and outbound dispatch
  • Work closely with the warehouse team to ensure time-critical orders are identified and prepared first, supporting smooth logistics operations
  • Assist with organising workflow so stock moves through the warehouse quickly and accurately

Picking, Packing & Preparing Orders:

  • Pick items from designated storage locations using correct picking methods and equipment
  • Pack goods securely and professionally to ensure they arrive at their destination in excellent condition
  • Follow packing guidelines that consider product fragility, weight, and transport method
  • Ensure all consignments are labelled correctly and prepared for dispatch using the most cost-effective and timely shipping methods

Safe Storage of Goods:

  • Store stock safely and in accordance with warehouse layout plans, racking systems, and safety procedures
  • Ensure items are placed in the correct locations to maintain accurate stock records and support efficient picking
  • Keep stock areas tidy, organised, and compliant with health and safety guidelines

Loading & Unloading Vehicles:

  • Assist with the safe loading of outgoing delivery trucks, ensuring pallets and parcels are stable, secure, and loaded in the correct route order
  • Unload incoming vehicles efficiently, ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times
  • Work with drivers and warehouse colleagues to keep turnaround times smooth and efficient

Throughout the apprenticeship, you will develop practical skills, technical knowledge, and professional behaviours required to achieve your Level 2 qualification in Supply Chain Warehouse Operative and progress in the logistics sector. There will be opportunities for further training and career progression as you develop in your role, with hands-on mentoring from experienced warehouse staff and additional training provided to help you continuously improve your skills and stay up to date with safety standards and warehouse protocols.

First job? Career change? No experience? You’re exactly who we’re looking for! Join us and we’ll teach you everything you need to know, from warehouse basics to logistics smarts.

Depending on your age and previous qualifications, you may need to complete Maths and/or English as part of your apprenticeship. If you are under 19 and haven’t yet achieved these qualifications, you’ll study them during your programme, as required by government guidelines. For apprentices aged 19 and over, these qualifications may be optional based on your individual situation.

They will work with an experienced warehouse team that can mentor and support.
