Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Set up, operate, and maintain CNC milling and turning machines.
Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications - Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials for each job
- Perform machine offsets, tool changes, and program adjustments as required
- Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments
- Maintain tight tolerances and ensure all parts meet quality standards
- Troubleshoot machining issues and collaborate with engineering or programming teams to resolve them
- Keep accurate production records and follow established workflow processes
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area in line with health and safety guidelines
