Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

The Lighthouse Children's Home provides care for children with autism and learning disabilities and is based in London. This is an excellent opportunity to work flexible hours and to gain experience working with children and young people with special needs in a caring environment. 

  • Ensuring the highest standards of care in relation to the children's physical, behavioural, and emotional needs.
  • Supporting young people to do their favourite things and try new activities at home and outdoor activities.
  • Providing high-quality care to young people.

This apprenticeship will offer great experience for working in residential care with children with autism and learning disabilities. We have a great team to support the apprentices. 

Responsibilities: Support Worker

  • Providing quality and consistent care to help meet the social, emotional, and behavioural needs of residents.
  • Provide personal care for the young people.
  • Supporting young people to do their favourite things and to try new activities, both at home and outdoors.
  • Promoting the safety, welfare, and protection of the children and young people we care for at all times.
  • Complete all training required.
  • Act as a positive role model for children, young people and other staff in the home. .
