Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
Whilst working with a skilled machinist, training will be provided to include:
- Carrying out light machining duties including the use of cylindrical, surface and centreless grinding machines
- Carrying out light machining duties to include the use of manual lathes, milling machines and various small machine shop process operations
- Accessing information such as component drawings and technical data
- Using mechanical and electrical measuring equipment
- Inspecting and QC reporting
- Contributing to a safe working environment, by adhering to Health and Safety processes including abrasive wheel regulations and manual lifting training
