Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
This is an exciting role for a confident rider to work in a top-class dressage training yard that trains horses and riders from Novice level up to Grand Prix level.
Located in the beautiful village of Bartestree, near Hereford, they comprise of approximately 50 horses including foals and youngstock, breeding stallions, broodmares, school masters and competition horses.
You will have the opportunity to regularly ride and exercise a huge variety of their dressage horses, as well as being coached by their top trainers.
You will play a crucial role in maintaining the abundance of luxury facilities, and your duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Grooming
- Plaiting
- Riding for exercise and improvement
- Lunging
- Preparing for shows
- Field and stable maintenance
There is accommodation available on site - charges to be discussed with the employer.
There is an opportunity to bring your own horse, with reduced livery charges to be discussed with the employer.

This apprenticeship is practical, based onsite at the employer's premises, so not lots of time spent sitting in a classroom. If you did not gain your GCSEs in maths & English at Grade 4 (or equivalent), we can support you to get these whilst on the programme.
