Summary

As an apprentice you will support the finance and accounting department. Combining accounting tasks, such as reviewing and reconciling payments, corresponding with the sales department, and creating and issuing invoices, alongside general administrative duties and developing proficiency in finance systems such as Xero and Google Suite.

Wage

£16,640 a year

The above salary is for under 18's, This will increase to £22,568 for 18's and over.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

Responsibilities will include:

  • Processing invoices and payments
  • Entering financial data into accounting systems
  • Assisting with bookkeeping and maintaining expense records
  • Reconciling receipts and bank transactions
  • Filing and organising financial documentation
  • Supporting the preparation of basic financial reports
  • Communicating with suppliers and internal teams to assist with payment queries
  • Ensuring accurate financial record keeping

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
  • Record transactional data.

Training schedule

  • The apprenticeship is primarily based in the workplace.
  • Within the first 12 months additional training is delivered at Loughborough College weekly on either Tuesday or Thursday 9.30am - 3pm (study day will be confirmed on enrolment)

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4/C or above)
  • Maths (grade 4/C or above)
