Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

As an Apprentice Welder, you will receive expert training and gain experience in:

  • MIG and TIG welding techniques on a range of materialsFabrication processes, including marking out, cutting, forming, and finishing components
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings
  • Using workshop machinery and hand tools safely and effectively
  • Preparing, assembling, and welding metal structuresQuality checking and inspection techniques
  • Health, safety, and environmental regulationsWorking as part of a professional engineering team on live projects
