This is a fantastic opportunity to become a qualified Construction Site Supervisor in the construction industry through working for a leading principle contractor, Midgard, part of the JRL Group. Wage

£17,667 to £28,571.40, depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

You will:

  • Assist the Construction Manager / Site Manager with day to day duties
  • Carry out site safety inspections 
  • Gain an understanding of method statements, risk assessments and the need for clear communication of works to operatives and the need for reviewing RAMS as necessary
  • Be trained to carry out site inductions
  • Understand the design process including drawing registers, printing drawings and understanding them in relation to the build proces
  • Gain an understanding of site logistics

What you'll learn

Course contents
  • Identify risk of activities and encourage all employees to demonstrate safety-conscious behaviours.
  • Assess, identify and record the environmental impact of projects.
  • Assist in the implementation of the most appropriate solutions for construction projects.
  • Use effective management principles and be able to supervise construction workers.
  • Understand overall plan for project and measure and record progress against plan.
  • Assess and report on quality standards and assist in commissioning of finished construction projects.
  • Understand financial and legal constraints and measure and record progress against budget.

Training schedule

  • Level 4 HNC in Construction and the Built Environment
  • Additional short courses and internal training programmes, e.g. on H&S Management

Requirements

Desirable qualifications

A Level in:

  • Design (grade B)
  • Maths (grade B)
  • Physics (grade B)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
