Summary

As our apprentice project manager, your role will be to assist our Project Coordinators and Project Managers with the coordination of people and processes to ensure that our projects are delivered on time and produce the desired results.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

You will learn how to plan project delivery, from scheduling activities, identifying risks and opportunities, development of resource plans.

During your training you will also learn how to monitor projects, tracking everything from budget to quality through the project life cycle. At the end of your training, you will be able to respond appropriately to challenges, opportunities and how to adapt to change.

You should be an excellent communicator and comfortable managing multiple tasks; you also need to be a team player and have a problem-solving aptitude.

Duties will include:

  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Assist with the administration for project handover meetings from Sales department or relevant stakeholders & other associated administrative duties
  • Assist with the development of project scopes and objectives
  • Track project specific tasks and assist Operations team where necessary
  • Production of the project installation pack in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Assist with Order Acknowledgement checking to ensure specification aligns with project deliverables such as address & delivery timeline
  • Produce quotations in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Carry out site visits confirming ingress and egress routes, include all relevant sub-contractors & suppliers
  • Assist with the coordination of the snagging and close out process in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Create, coordinate and maintain comprehensive project documentation in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Complete any tasks assigned to you in an efficient and timely manner
  • Lean how to manage risk in accordance with company policies, systems and tools to minimise project risks
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with Health and Safety standards & protocols

  • Use digital tools and software to meet project objectives for example research, collaboration, presentations, and resolution of problems.
  • Provide underpinning data to support the written submission through the governance process.
  • Work within the approved project budget.
  • Ensure that integrated schedules support critical path analysis, interface management, resource forecasting and risk management.
  • Apply relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and ethical guidance where appropriate to their work.
  • Use data to inform decisions on actions to take to mitigate risks on project.
  • Use configuration management and change control to schedule and maintain projects.
  • Manages resources through the project lifecycle.

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

5 GCSEs including Maths and English (grade A*-C/9-4 or equivalent)

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

  • Desire to work in the construction fit out / furniture industry
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project – training will be provided

  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations would be beneficial
