Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
- Carry out planned maintenance on automated gates, barriers, bollards, and roller garage doors
- Carry out repairs and upgrades to the above systems
- Fault-find and carry out reactive maintenance on automation equipment
- Install and troubleshoot intercom and access control systems
- Complete all job documentation accurately, both digital and paper-based
- Observe all health and safety guidelines to ensure the safety of yourself and others
- Manage your own time on jobs to ensure maximum efficiency
- Communicate job progress with the operations team
- Share best practice and knowledge with other team members
- Support senior engineers with additional tasks as your skills and confidence develop

Training schedule
- Training will take place at Gloucestershire College, Cheltenham Campus, Princess Elizabeth Way, Cheltenham, GL51 7SJ. For the first two years, the apprentice will attend college two days per week, with the remaining three days spent working on site with PAC
- After year two, training moves fully into the workplace, with assessments and observations carried out on site
Requirements
Desirable qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 4)
- Maths (grade 4)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements
- A full UK driving licence is preferred, as the role involves travelling to client sites across Gloucestershire. Candidates with a provisional licence will be considered if they are actively learning to drive.

- A genuine interest in engineering, mechanics, or working with your hands.
